Time for restful break
The year is almost over and 2021 will certainly be remembered as a period of change.
We’ve experienced a big change in the way we work, how we do business and interact within our various communities. In short nothing is normal anymore and I think this will be just how we roll into the future.
Although transportation and labour shortages continue to bite it has not all doom and gloom for the sector. Fonterra farmers have enjoyed one of the biggest milk pay outs the co-operative has delivered which will see almost $13b flow into regional New Zealand via milk pay outs.
While wool prices remain at a static low lamb prices have reached record levels with high demand in China, Europe and the US as the effects of COVID continue to be felt. Australia is still re-building their flock following unprecedented droughts and wide-spread fire damage to large tracts of the country which has helped create demand and push our lamb prices up.
It has been a challenging year for many, but it’s nothing new – we’ve been through ups and downs before and will again just get on with the job that keeps us in the business we enjoy.
So, with Christmas just around the corner it’s time for us to take a break and recharge. The Farm Focus Office will close 2pm 24 December until 9am Wednesday 5 January 2022 as our staff take a break and spend time family and friends.
