Feels like only a week or so ago we were headed towards Christmas with the possibility of a bit of down time with families and friends. Here we are back for the next round!
The country is looking remarkably green for this time of year. Here in the Wairarapa there’s feed everywhere as in Marlborough and North Canterbury which is against the norm with the east coast especially likely to be burnt to a crisp by now.
If the current weather pattern continues farmers could make it through to autumn in very good shape – with feed to spare.
Stock prices are holding up well and trucks are flat out moving lambs to the works. The lack of drivers remains still an issue but doesn’t seem to have impacted too much at this early stage with stock still being moved at a fast clip. Milk prices remain strong and even wool has inched up a notch or two! All in all, 2022 has got off to a good start so long may it continue.
